i remember they did that in a vice city mod. since im thinking bout adding another program to run along with the game it may be possible just using the zipcode but id prolly just be easier to come up with our own weather system. ^_^
cuz see the problem is ppl would just change their zipcode and get totally new weather to catch w/e they want making the weather system pointless in the end. i mean in vicecity it didnt matter much but our pkmn game it's ganna be a big deal. ^_~ good idea though.

I'd say just cut the years into quarters and use those for the seasons... should work out fine that way, and is much less complicated... except for leap year...

Use this: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SolsticeChart on the right are the Summer/Winter Solstices and the Equinoxes... use those to seperate the seasons if you must.

What would a weevil pokemon be typed? Just to note, I'm thinking of making it's long snout resemble a cannon, so maybe something to shoot (not fire) would be a good idea? I'm thinking of maybe making it pure Bug actually... and making it sort of like Octillery movepool wise...

Pure bug would be cool, actually.
I suppose it could be bug/steel too if you want to make its snout a literal cannon.

I had an idea for the two Ice-age "fossil" Pokemon: You find them in a snowy region, and have to choose one, and then an avalanche of snow covers the other one up. You cannot return there due to some people saying it's dangerous, and not letting you through. Later on, after you beat the final boss(es) of the game, you can go back there, and use a Pokemon with Dig to snatch the other fossil. Maybe to make it harder, you would have to raise a Swinub/Piloswine/that mammoth thing to have it dig for the other fossil? They would probably be the only Pokemon that could survive the cold, and dig. (You would have to make Dig naturally learnable by Swinub/Piloswine/that mammoth thing for this.)
Also you could just make a universal calendar that follows a trend, and changes phases every 6 hours in real time. You could probably switch it up every few days, and have it be S,C,S,C,R for the Normal area instead of S,C,C,R,C. Or, you could follow a pattern of different trends that repeats itself a few times every month. This would allow for less work, but more flexibility in terms of seasons, as in the winter, you could modify December to have it Hail almost all the time.
Examples of this:
Normal Area (Plains, Forest, etc.) - SUNNY, CLEAR, CLEAR, RAIN, CLEAR - Repeat.
Rainforest Area - RAIN, RAIN, CLEAR, RAIN, SUNNY - Repeat.
Snow Area - CLEAR, HAIL, HAIL, CLEAR, HAIL - Repeat.
Mountain Area - CLEAR, SUNNY, SUNNY, SUNNY, RAIN - Repeat.
This could solve that problem with people switching their area/clock/whatever, as well as with synchronization. Also, it wouldn't be fair to some people in some areas. If you played somewhere like Florida, it wouldn't really Hail alot, now would it?

Okay, new idea for Ariados sub: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assassin_spidersI'm thinking.... make an assasin spider sub-species for ariados... And then make the Tarantula an alternate evolution (different pokemon) of Spinarak, with a trapdoor sub... both Bug Ground type... Rantulid... hmmmm....

Eh... having like 3 different evolutions sounds a little meh...
I say you make entirely different pokemon that's Tarantula to Trapdoor Tarantula.
and does anyone think that there needs to be a orca sub-species for wailord? I'm thinking having it be a mix between orca and norwhale and have it specialize in attack rather then defence.

It'd be like this: Spinarak A evolves into either Ariados A (Normal) or Tarantula A (Normal) Spinarak B evolves into either Ariados B (Assassin) or Tarantula B (Trapdoor) Hmmmm.... Wailord is a Baleen wail, not a toothed wail, like an Orca... Maybe we could have an Orca with Narwhale sub-species? oooh or maybe an Orca/Narwhale with a Dolphin/Narwhale sub? Besides.... an Orca shaped like Wailord wouldn't it?

No, I get it, but I still think tarantula's would be better off as a separate pokemon.
But what are you saying about the Orca/Narwhale? You want another pokemon entirely? or do you want two supspecies or what?

Narwhals, Dolphins, and Orcas are toothed whales... Wailord is a baleen whale..... I don't think we should make a Wailord sub with teeth, but if we made a seperate pokemon based off of an Orca/Narwhal with a Dolphin/Narwhal sub, or vice-versa, that would make much more sense.

Can we maybe use these as ideas for new Pokemon? Henodus: Tanystropheus: Or a Ketos idea: Ketos is a long necked, aquatic sea monster/dragon believed in all over the mediterranean world and became the prototype for the dragons in medieval art. Jesus called the creature that swallowed Jonah a Ketos. Nessie may be a Ketos, as "she" even is described having a mane like these creatures.I like italics.

Oh okay I get it. So have a separate pokemon line with a dolphin/narwhal evolving into a orca/narwhal? cool, I'll get working on that then.

On my trip to Kentucky, I got ideas for our game while reading a fat ol’ book called Mythology. I want to share these ideas with you guys and earn back your respect, and to get the “I AM ALMOST BAND LOL” thing far, far away from my profile. Shiva the Destroyer- From Indian Mythology Orochi- Snake God, lives on mountains Ryujin- Dragon God, rules clouds, rain, and water Yashi- Demon God, protects Buddhism (We can replace Buddhism with something else) All of the above have wide mouths, sharp fangs, pointed horns, and all-seeing eyes Yama- God of death Jigoku- Japanese for hell (Name for the Northern capitol perhaps?) 18 levels of hell To get to Jigoku, you must climb a steep mountain, and on the other side of the mountain is a river with 3 crossings. The first crossing is a shallow ford, the second crossing is a bridge, the third crossing is a horrible torrent filled with monsters. After the third crossing there is a horrible old woman who takes you to the guards, who then take you to the ruler who decides what you should do and where you should stay in Jigoku. You can be saved with the help of the Bosatsu, an artifact which can change your shape or gender at will. That is all from Asian mythology, this part I made up: The ruler keeps the Bosatsu hidden. What I am thinking for that part is in order to defeat the evil you must go to Jigoku, gain the leader’s trust, rally up a resistance, and attack, but first you have to steal the Bosatsu. Oni- Possible name for the army of the Northern nation, responsible people in Jigoku are doing what they’re supposed to do, Oni is Japanese for demon Sekhmet- Egyptian for power, might Hold Item: Eye of Horus or Wedjat Eye- Protects you from Dark, Ghost, and Psychic attacks Parthia- Town/City name idea Lilith- Evil female name idea Hold Item: Kalatuka poison- Powers up Poison-type moves, every attack of yours has potential to intensely poison. Hold Item: Ambrosia- (Nectar of Immortality) Gives you 1.5x HP, maybe 2x HP Hold Item: Unicorn Horn (could be Rapidash horn) - Makes you immune to poison-type moves EDIT : Forgot these things from Ancient Egypt: The king was revered as a god, According to Egyptian belief and law. no man could judge another in life or death. I think that with that being known, it explains why the wars are being fought by Pokemon instead of humans. Also: POKEMON IDEAS A T- Rex type pokemon: www.freewebs.com/snakster/t%20rex%20poke.bmp , or if you want to see it colored: www.freewebs.com/snakster/t%20rex%20poke%20.bmpBoth those are incredibly large files and take a while to load, lol. Some type ideas for him: dark dark / dragon dark / rock grass grass / dragon grass / rock dragon dragon / dark dragon / grass Name ideas for him: Dracorex Dracosauros Dracodon (Latin for Dragon Tooth) Pyrorex- if fire typed Horrorex- If dark Macarex (Macabre + t rex) - if dark Darex- if dark, I don't like this idea though Alloyrex- If steel Saurodon (Latin for Lizard Tooth) Florarex Florex Tyrarex Allorex Another idea: www.freewebs.com/snakster/omg%20puffballs.jpgI want that thing on the right to be all paranoid and shit and normal typed, but he evolves into that thing on the right which is totally not paranoid and he's fighting typed. THING ON THE LEFT NAME IDEAS: Frotton (Fur + Cotton) Forton (Fur + Cotton) Parafluff (Paranoid + Fluff) Nervanoid (Nervous + Paranoid) Nervanoia (Nervous + Paranoia) Furvous (Fur + Nervous) Nurfur (Nervous + Fur) Furnur (Fur + Nervous) Furranoid (Fur + Paranoid) THING ON THE RIGHT NAME IDEAS: Furnin (Fur + Ninjutsu) Tae-Kwotten (Tae Kwan Do + Cotton) Brotton (Brave + Cotton) Furgressor (Fur + Aggressive)

Oh, I'm sorry! I must've BUMPed into this fine thread while wondering why no one replied to my ideas for the game. I also was wondering why it seems like our progress on the game is starting to deteroriate. I'm sorry, my mind was somewhere else, here you go, Thread, have a beer. *Thread jumps onto Snak's back, pushes him down, beats him, rolls him over and then grinds a broken bottle into his face*

T Rex is kind of.... hmmm.... I just always think Tyranitar pretty much is like a T-Rex...
Furry things look like bigfoot... maybe something can be done with them.
Items are kind of.... no.
Orochi pokemon might be fun.... if we give him eight heads...
Well an item idea I had recently was:
Energy Drink: Recharge turns are skipped (4 uses) After those 4 uses, Recharge turns take up two turns.
and a trait:
Sacrifice: When this pokemon is KOed through its own attack, a Safeguard of 5 turns is put up.
Sticky: When this pokemon is hit with a Contact attack, the opponent loses speed (two levels).
and
Adapt: Becomes resistant to the last type of attack used on this pokemon (as in if the opponent used a Dragon type attack, this pokemon would become resistant to Dragon until another type of attack was used)

Well, that's nice, but I never thought of Tyranitar as T-Rex like.... Anyways, what do you think about the names and plot ideas?

The puffball looks surprisingly close to a jubjub IMO we can be more creative than that. As per the Orochi guy, I like snakes, I think we could maybe pull it off. The turtle might be fun to mess with, maybe we could pull off something funky like another grass/water or something depending on how it turns out.

Well when I said some thing I meant... they would go through a long process of tweaks and changes until they were interesting enough to be pokemon.... a yeti might be fun though (makes me think Ice/Fighting)
Also.... what would be cool as a pokemon
LA CHUPACABRA
As for plot being bsed off of ancient egypt.... erm... I don't really know... truthfully, I don't think it will make it, but a few similarities between our land and ancient egypt may become evident... depends really :/

imo we try to make a grass/ice type that doesn't suck. It'll be hard, but imo we can do it. We have the power.

erm.... a Fern?
Pine tree was basically the best idea for an Ice/Grass... and making one now would be redundant...
plus.... that typing really does kind of SUCK MY BALLS.....
If we want a cool Grass combo, Grass Fire would kick ass... Another Grass Water Type would be fun...
And everyone knows they want a Grass Steel.... although I don't know what the hell it would be....
Ice could work well with Fighting (yeti) or Poison (?)
