Yeah I guess this would be the place to put it. Anyway, I did some messing around with some ideas for battle themes. I don't plan on trying to make one for regular trainer encounters or wild pokemon until we have a firm idea of what the game will be like, however, I have made two songs that could be played for special battles. What those special battles are should be easily enough explained by their unoriginal names. =D Legendary Battle - Two loops of 1:45 each plus a 15 second intro Boss Battle - Two loops of 1:10 each

Legendary Battle wants some percussion (don't know how difficult that is on Anvil, but if it's anything like NoteWorthy then I think it merits a fine "arghhh").
Starts off pretty good, but after a while I find it becomes rather, um, static. Maybe change keys in there for a bit, or make the String Ensemble find something else to do for a while. The Choir Aahs are bothering me; they sound erratic and the rhythm seems entirely random to me.
I'm sorry. I totally don't mean to sound like a prick, I swear. XD: Like I can do any better.
._.
The overall feel is good, it doesn't need a whole lot of additional attention. I'm going to take a better look at the second one, now.

IDK if its me or not, but the boss battle should have a somewhat faster tempo. Its pretty good otherwise, I just like my boss music to be fast paced, with a mood that kinda gets you into it.

Legendary Battle wants some percussion (don't know how difficult that is on Anvil, but if it's anything like NoteWorthy then I think it merits a fine "arghhh"). Right now the beat is being laid out by the strings, so the rhythm section would probably be mostly little "flares" like crash cymbals and stuff to bring out certain parts, and that definitely merits an "arghhh." Looping a few measures isn't that big of a deal, but making two minutes worth of rhythm is a pain. I'll see what I can do. I can see a key change working, but like I said before, the strings are effectively acting as the rhythm section atm, and they'd be hard to change. As for the Choir Aahs... like when? Are there any specific time frames where they sound that way? Or is it just in general? No. It's good you're giving me feedback on this stuff. If something doesn't sound right I want to know. IDK if its me or not, but the boss battle should have a somewhat faster tempo. Its pretty good otherwise, I just like my boss music to be fast paced, with a mood that kinda gets you into it. It's already at 120 beats per minute lol Well I saved a few other (faster tempo) versions, so here they are: rapidshare.com/files/41045444/Boss_battle_130.midrapidshare.com/files/41045466/Boss_battle_140.midAnd just for kicks I saved one at double the previous speed: rapidshare.com/files/41046054/Boss_battle_240.midBtw, I just noticed I made a typo in the first post. The legend battle has a 15 second intro with two loops of 1:45, not 1:50. lol

The 140 ticks one suits my tastes, and sounds more Pokemon-ish imo (reminds me of the GSC Gym Leader music)

Boss Battle 140 has a slight Egyptian sound, which is giggity-good.

Alright, so I guess the general consensus is that battle theme 140 is good? I was thinking that each of the major bosses in the game could have their own theme, along with a more generic one for the smaller bosses, or maybe have a couple different themes that each play for multiple bosses (except for the final battle, which I will definitely be putting a lot of time into; I hate it when a final boss has sucky music, or they just reuse another boss's music).
I'm probably going to completely redo the legendary battle. I was going for something that sounded sort of epic, and not harsh, bringing out the fact that what you're fighting is quite literally, well, legendary. Although I think I didn't do so good of a job in the epic department, and it doesn't really feel fast enough.

Sorry for the double post. I completely redid the legendary battle theme (and when I say "completely redid," I mean it's pretty much a new song except for a couple borrowed elements). There's about a 13 second or so second intro, then two ~53 second loops. www.divshare.com/download/1324627-e1aedit: just listened to the boss theme I posted here from a while ago. Letting stuff sit and not touching it for a while is a good thing, apparently, as I had never noticed how annoying the rhythm was on it. I'll have to fix that.

i like it tho im used to a more blood pumping battle theme. it wouldnt be bad for certain type of legendarys i suppose but certain other ones deserve more blood pumping music imo. the songs are gorgeous & really amazing tho. definatly going in but were gunna have to see which legendarys get that theme and which ones get another
