It appears the Beaver of Death is in fact a water/normal type.
Now, based on what we have seen so far, do you think this guy could theoretically work in D/P's OU format? His Simplicity Trait seems good (suppose items give double their usual effect: x3 attack CB go) but his overall stat distribution sucks balls and his poor movepool says no.
Currently I want him to work in OU but I don't think he'll make the cut. The only redeeming qualities he has that are visible to me right now (without dipping into the whole, "I know the metagame and you don't!" bullshit) include that he has STAB normal and potential 2.25x or 3x attack Choice Band, STAB water physicals (aqua tail and that bs) and switches into some defensive waters with impunity (like Milotic and shits).
His list of poor qualities is much larger and more profound. It includes a poor movepool (what good is 663 attack if your entire movepool consists of Aqua Tail, Focus Punch, Double-Edge, Quick Attack, Superpower, Return and Body Slam?), mediocre speed at best (71 isn't TERRIBLE in the sense that it can't be used but it's not going to win many races... props for beating Rampard though) and shitty defenses (aside from its decent HP, which is a word I use loosely).
So... my thoughts are that he won't work in OU unless he suddenly gets an evolution or by some miracle counters a top OU pokemon. Both scenarios are unlikely. He - like many before him - seems to have the Medicham syndrome. The only difference is that he's slower, less versatile and gets about 3 safe switches (Vappy, Milotic, Suicune and a few other waters that look like they could be potent forces in D/P's metagame). Having said that, switching into waters with impunity doesn't mean too much when it's your ONLY safe switch.
Disclaimer: I could be very wrong here and Beaver Man could be high OU for all we know but this is just a thought topic.
