If any of you remember the Titanium Silver ROM hack I did a long while ago, I mentioned that I would be remaking it using some language in the future. But with DP out and the hints of a GS remake, I decided to scrap that...
...and in it's place is Zirconium. Taking place in an as-of-yet unnamed region. While it will be a while before I'll actually be coding any of this, here's what's in mind:
- Multiple trainers. After beating the Elite 4, you'll be able to unlock certain trainers to play as. If you remember Kefka's Tower from FF6 it'll be the same idea. Each trainer can be switched in rotation at will, except while in battles, and each with its own set of Pokemon. Each trainer will have access to the same PC storage. While I haven't fully decided the full roster of who you will be able to play as, I have decided that both Lance and Clair from GSC will be playable from the start. This system will be necessary to complete a few of the next feature:
- Missions. Certain missions will become available as your progress through. Certain missions can only be done by certain characters, and others will require more than one playable character at a time.
- Desperation attacks. These will only be useable in NPC battles, and can't be used in link battles (if its ever implemented). Each Pokemon will have a bar that builds up as it takes damage that, when full, will allow it to use a 5th "Desperation" Attack. All Pokemon have a Desperation attack that is unique to their species, but this can be overritten with certain TMs. Also, some attacks such as Hyper Beam and Sky Attack can be designated as either a regular attack or a desperation, with certain benefits if assigned to the latter:
Hyper Beam - Does not require a recharge if assigned as a Desperation attack
Solar Beam - Immediately fires on the first turn regardless of weather. Gains a 50% power boost if Sunny Day is active.
- Boss Pokemon. Certain Pokemon, primarily the legendaries, will require you to battle a "Boss" version of the same Pokemon before you are able to catch it. These "boss" pokemon have absurdly high HP as opposed to normal Pokemon, and will even have certain attacks unique to them that cannot be sketched, mimicked, or metronomed. In addition, all Boss pokemon cannot be caught and have the intrinsic "Legendary Aura" secondary ability which gives them immunity to OHKOs, Perish Song, some status effects, etc.
- "Defective" Master Balls. Another precaution where you are forced to "earn" your Oober Pokemon Mewtwo instead of just tossing a Masterball and then you're spent. Master Ball's success rate now scales inversely proportional to the Pokemon's HP, with 0% at full health and 100% at 1 HP.
- Genetic Engineer. Worried about catching a legendary Pokemon with HP Ice 70? Worry no more. A genetic engineer NPC will be able to store DNA samples, including species, IVs, nature, etc, and inject it into any egg that you have. But this comes at a price: the more modifications to an egg that you do, the lower its success rate of hatching becomes. Don't worry though, I heard that <DEFORMED EMBRYO>s can fully heal your Pokemon when eaten. Nasty, isn't it?
- Story. A bit more darker than we're accustomed to, but here's what's in mind:
A recent group calling themselves the Splinter Shuttle Organization has recently emerged. The group itself consists of former members of Team Rocket, but have taken more extreme measures, likened to that of terrorism, in order to reach their goals. They seek to assume control of legendary Pokemon as a method of blackmailing world leaders. Even members of Team Rocket despise their actions, including, but limited to: hijacking space shuttles, cyberterrorism, releasing bioengineered bacteria into water supplies, etc. Recently, things have become chaotic in the world, which tie into the beginning of the universe:
In the beginning, when Arceus created the Pokemon, three Pokemon managed to survive what was known as the Big Collapse: the implosion of a universe that had preceded our own, which eventually lead to the Big Bang. These three survivors were then plunged into our own universe:
The first of these was Diaboros, a Pokemon created from the Big Collapse when the souls of all the Pokemon that had perished during the Big Collapse had fused into a unique, sentient being. Because this Pokemon was created from death, Diaboros thinks only of death, where it's scythe is said to kill anything it touches.
The second is Omegius, an android Pokemon that was created by an unnamed scientist in the previous universe. Omegius was known as a menace, destroying everything in its wake as its master saw fit. When the Big Collapse occured, Omegius was spared due to it's origin as an artificial lifeform. It carries with it an energy saber, which contributes to this Pokemon's massive attack power.
The third is Sleipnash, a 6-legged equine Pokemon. Its origin is unclear, but was said to be a monstrosity of nature created in the old universe. The chaos this Pokemon caused, along with the devastation created by Omegius, prompted Arceus to cause the Big Collapse and, subsequently, the Big Bang, in an effort to start the universe over from scratch.
In an effort to combat these three, Arceus created Ebonox, Ivorax, and Arck, which succeeded in apprehending Sleipnash, Omegius, and Diaboros, and sealing them away in a dimensional rift. Ebonax, Ivorax, and Arck continue to guard the seal, that if any of the three were to go missing, the seal would collapse and the 3 terrors would be unleashed. To assist them in this task, each one created a dragon Pokemon: Ebonox created Komodon, Ivorax created Nagaryu, and Arck created Ketkwatl. These 3 dragons serve as a front line, protecting the trio from any assault.
Hearing of this legend, Splinter Shuttle Org, under the leadership of Judas, sought to separate at least of the 3 guardians created by Arceus to obtain the power of Diaboros, Omegius, and Sleipnash. In an effort to cause instability, the SSO began campaigns of mass genocide of both humans and Pokemon alike, in an effort to strengthen Diaboros, seeing as Diaboros is the harbringer of death.
Game mechanic changes:
- Water now weak to Poison
- <GROUND WIRE> ability: ignores Ground type's immunity to electric attacks. I'll give you $10 if you guess which Pokemon gets this.
